DHS Band

  • IMPORTANT BAND CAMP ANNOUNCEMENT 7/23/20:

Hi everybody, I am sure that you are all aware that last night the school approved a plan for re-opening this fall. Out of an abundance of caution for safety, we are going to revise the hours of band camp this year. Instead of a 9 AM-5 PM camp as we have done in the past, we will be moving to a "mornings only" schedule. Daily rehearsal during camp will begin at 8 AM and finish at 12 PM. The dates for camp will remain the same: Monday 8/3 to Friday 8/7 and Monday 8/10 to Thursday 8/13. Our final sectional rehearsals for this coming Monday 7/27 and Tuesday 7/28 will continue as originally planned.

To answer any questions or concerns that you or your family might have surrounding band camp, I will host a Google Meet Q&A session on Monday, 7/27 at 11:00 AM. The meeting can be accessed by computer or by phone. For a video conference, follow this URL: https://meet.google.com/cad-zdbp-nym (The link can also be found on the Band Google Calendar.) To dial in via phone, call +1 402-356-1236‬ and use the PIN 529 819 786#

If any family cannot attend the Meet session but has questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach me at thiravi@danvillesd.org and I will be happy to respond by email or setup a personal phone call.

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and commitment to getting through the present situation in the safest way possible.

    Mr. Hiravi

The DHS Band has a long tradition of excellence in music.  The 2019-2020 school year will carry on that tradition with pride!  Please check Google Classroom for recordings of pieces that we are preparing for student practice, instructions for assignments, etc.

Football Games:  All HOME games will have a report time of 5:45 pm unless there are special events.

Picture Day on 8/30 is one such example. All students will be required to stay after school on 8/30 to have the Band photos taken by Strawbridge Photography. A picture order packet will be provided in advance and students will have dinner provided for them by the Band Boosters. This is also the date of the special residency at DHS by the White Sabers Drum and Bugle Corps, where students will have a chance to see the Corps in rehearsal, play with them during the game that evening, and see their show in performance during halftime.

All AWAY games will have changing report times as listed below.

AWAY FOOTBALL GAME REPORT AND DEPARTURE TIMES:

Student Report Time for away games is a minimum of 20 minutes prior to departure time. If you personally take longer to prepare/load your equipment, change into your uniform, etc., then you are expected to arrive with time to complete those tasks before we load the busses ten minutes prior to departure. Time Management is a portion of your grade for marching band.
