Mr. Christopher Johns

 

Mr. Christopher D. Johns - Danville Area High School Principal

Mr. Johns has been the Principal at Danville Area High School since July 2016. Prior to this he has served in a variety of roles for the district. Beginning in the 2003-04 school year, he served as the School Counselor at Liberty Valley Elementary School (K-5) until he was named Interim Principal of Danville Elementary School (K-5) in March 2009. He then served as Assistant Principal for Danville Elementary (K-2), Mahoning Cooper Elementary (K-2), and Riverside Elementary (K-2) during the 2009-10 school year and was actively involved as the district went through the process of consolidating and realigning the elementary education of it's K-5 students. In 2010, he returned to Liberty Valley as Principal of the building that was now an intermediate school serving all of the district's 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.  

He has earned a Bachelors' degree from Elizabethtown College (PA) in Psychology (1998), a Masters' degree from California State University -- Long Beach in Counseling (2003), and another Masters' degree from Bloomsburg University (PA) in Educational Administration / Curriculum and Instruction (2009). He has a K-12 Level II administrative certification. Prior to working with the district, he has worked in the Garden Grove Unified School District (CA), Los Angeles Unified School District (CA) and at the Northwestern Academy (PA).

Mr. Johns has also been the district's representative on the MARC (Montour Area Recreation Commission) board since 2015.

Additional, Mr. Johns has previously served as the Head Boys Soccer Coach for the district from 2002-2009 and is currently a PIAA and USSF-certified official. He lives in Danville with his wife, Heather, and two daughters, Bella and Sophie, who both attend school in the district. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, trail-running, biking, being involved with soccer, and continually working on restoring his old home.
