I have had some emails and phone calls about two events that involve students from "band and FFA." First let me say that the band as a group is not going anywhere. The situation involves students in band - which at DASD is a course and participation in the activities are part of their educational responsibilities. The real deal is that there are three (3) students who have auditioned and been selected for District Orchestra. In this case the parents are taking the students and no district personnel will be involved. Regarding FFA - the event, the Tractor Restoration Presentation, is on Saturday. This involves 4 or 5 students at the most who have been restoring this tractor in the classroom setting as well as after school times. It is also connected to the students' coursework. At this time the teachers are aware that they will not be physically going to the Farm Show, but are working with the organizers for the students to present virtually. These activities are co-curricular or activities, programs, and learning experiences that complement, in some way, what students are learning in school and are connected to the academic curriculum. These events are the culminating activities due to the students' hard work in the classroom.
